Although not as old as Beacon Hill in Boston, Victoria’s version is ancient for the area. It was a designated park area from Victoria’s earliest days.

It was formally landscaped by William (John) Blair in 1889. It includes 5 lakes, gorgeous bridges, towering trees and its own ecosystems. The birds are incredible.
We particularly loved the stone bridge over Goodacre Lake, built in 1889.

Emily Carr dedications are EVERYWHERE in James Bay, and even in Beacon Hill Park. This little bridge, built in 1953 (funded by her sister Alice) is dedicated to Emily.

Walks were fantastic. I even went for a few.
There is also a stage, but ya gotta love folksy-type stuff.
