A spotless windshield, a canopy and falling water.
Today we picked up our rental car. Even knowing what to expect, it was quite a shock seeing the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. It took great focus from both of us to drive without causing an accident, but we succeeded. Having said that, I kept up long-established tourist tradition of…

And introducing…
Our constant companions: Travel Bear and his wife. They will pop up from time to time, because they are far more photogenic than we are. THEY TOTALLY ARE!

Our last days in Maui.
The occasion called for Aquavit, though we have our own version of the traditional Norwegian “cheers” song: “Oh! Svinga Linga Winga Dinga! Skรคl!!” Viggo and Grace forgive us.

Angry water, red sand and a few nice views
So, yesterday we did a road trip, Maui style. Which means the road to and from Hana. Seven-ish hours of driving from where we are in Ka’anapali. A wonderful mix…
Yesterday was a great mix of Canadians, Norwegians and Americans with good food and good cocktails. Today was a mix of just about everything…except snow (sorry Canada). Still no pot of gold.

It’s not lava.
There is a huge brush fire above Lahaina (in the Kauaula valley) that has disappeared and restarted several times. We are not the least bit surprised given how dry the west coast of Maui is! If one didn’t know better, one might think a side vent in Mauna Kahalawai had opened up. The smoke drifts…

Nature is art.
Moved to our new condo today. Bernie gets to add more sunset photos to her Smithsonian-sized collection! Bonus! I found a proper martini shaker today. Never an easy task. ๐ I know. That is the ultimate in 1st world issues. Don’t judge.
