Hawaiian waves and a wedding.
Our friends Bob and Linda said “I do” after building a life together for the past 30 years. Longest engagement I have ever heard of! It was a lovely day in the perfect location. Bernie and I were honoured to witness this truly historical event. There was a fancy lunch:

Norwegians in the tropics??
Finding a Norwegian in the tropics is like finding a wahine in Inuvik. Consider yourself lucky! Had appies and martinis with our dear friends Viggo (aka Captain Highliner) and Grace and their lovely kids and gkids. A wonderful time was had by all. I am watching the weather closely at home. If it snows, Viggo…

Nobody!
It was my turn to cook last night, so we ate at the restaurant here. The short walk was kinda purdy. The hostess brought us to a table in the back, but before we sat down I noticed an open table with a much better view. The hostess apologized and we headed for it. Along…

Oh, those sunrises and sunsets (we are hearing Kas sing THAT song right now).
How Bernie doth love her sunrises and sunsets. She probably has hundreds of such photos. Maybe thousands. She may paint one someday. 👍🌅 These are amongst her favourites of all time. Have to admit they were pretty awesome.

Thar she blows!
Bernie’s brother TJ was kind enough to invite us to join him on a fishing trip. He was right that his natural good luck would overwhelm our history of bad luck. No, our history of the worst luck! We jinx entire fishing boats for multiple days. Captains have tried their most expensive lures to no…

Holy moly! Lovely to have so many cooks in the family!
The post-rehearsal spread! Nope, this wasn’t catered, it was put together by Heather, James’ partner-in-crime! Cannot imagine the work involved. What a labour of love!

L’il Seester and her posse.
My sister flew out to Victoria the second week of August. Having lived here for many years in the mid to late 90’s she is still in high demand by her many friends that never left. However, Bernie and I still managed to round up her and her posse a few times. I quite enjoyed…

A paradise for hikers
East Sooke Park. One can hike for hours or days. Lots of elevation change and ocean views. One hell of a workout. I’d love to do more hiking here eventually. Dave didn’t join Kas, Mark and I. 😂 We visited the seaside condo we are going to win in the B.C. Children’s Home Lottery. 😁

Now THIS is low tide!
What a day at Botanical Beach, near Port Renfrew (about an hour’s drive west of our rental house). This was the ultimate in ‘spring tides’, with the water dropping to a historic low. I went there with my sister Kas and her hubby Mark, and the sights were amazing! Such life in the tide pools,…
