Settling down in Otter Point, 10 kilometres west of Sooke. We loved the view (who wouldn’t??) but the pictures make it look far warmer than it was! As we were to discover, the winds blowing northward off the Olympic mountains chill out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca, giving rise to London-type fog in the morning and shiver-me-timber temps in the afternoon. One day we had a wind-chill factor of 11º C, while the humidex was 20º in Sooke and 36º in Qualicum Beach. A great place to spend the summer if one is Norwegian.
