Doing time in Mahana.

I got a reduced sentence for good behaviour. Only had to go 5 km (3 miles) into the Mahana Ridge Trail before turning around. But that still involved climbing 338 metres (1109 feet).

Some of the sights were okay.

Damn right I earned my beer.

There were a few green aloe (Giant Cabuya plants) along the way. This one was a bit peculiar in that it had a green sprout poking up into the sky. It had no bark.

David and the weird bean stalk.
A “Monarch Fern”. Looks like marijuana in bubble wrap.

    1. I have my doubts, but I am learning to not hate it. I guess that’s progress. 🤔

  4. Dave, no doubt you’ll be running those trails by the time you exit Hawaii! Good work Bernie! It looks perfect! 🤗

    1. Hey Leslie! 😊

Moi? Run? Only when I am out of gin. All that hiking is more than offset by proper “David-time”!

I do have to admit I am not hating hiking though. I bet you never thought you would hear those words uttered from me.

Bernie is planning the next leg, and says to tell you that she is trying to get me into shape for all the hiking she is planning in New Zealand. I may have to check the intinerary a bit more closely one of these days. 🧐

    1. Hi Helen!

Undoubtedly, once we get the rental car tomorrow. That will open up the whole island for Bernie… unfortunately. 😬
