A hike, flowers and crab cakes.

David’s turn to choose the hike, so it was a half hour in and a half hour out. Called “Twin Falls”, it packed a lot in that short distance! Rather perfect for a lazy old fart. Unfortunately we forgot water shoes and bathing suits…so wisdom does not necessarily come with age. 😬🫤

I suffered through the hike for the prize at the end. Crab cakes (legendary at this place) and pizza cooked in a forno oven at the Kula Lodge. The view is pretty good too.

Bernie caught me just after we arrived and is making me post this. Who wouldn’t be happy?! Grrrrr…

    1. We go to Kula Lodge every time we come to Maui. That’s how good the crab cakes are!

  2. Kula Lodge has been bought by 5 Palms owner. Nice that things are mostly the same. I think he does have a few upgrades planned. We also enjoyed the hike to Twin Falls.

    1. I was aware of new owners so very relieved to see it was just as I remembered it although there is no gallery inside anymore but there was a great piano player yesterday! We didn’t get as close to the falls as we’d have liked, not realizing you need water shoes to cross the stream. 😔

  3. Nice hike, although short. Beautiful photos. 5 Palms is out of business. That was one of the places i had in mind for brunch. So the owner of 5 Palms has a new place?

    1. The owner of 5 Palms has recently purchased Kula Lodge and Restaurant after the previous owner of the Kula Lodge and restaurant sadly passed away this July. It’s a ‘must visit’ for everything from the food to the grounds and the view! It’s only a 30 minute drive from Sugar Beach. Although it’s a big pricey, we feel the whole experience is worth it! It’s worth considering for your post wedding gathering for sure!
