A ferry too far.

We made a really bad decision this day: to ride bikes 50+ kilometres. It sounded lovely. A 1.3 km tunnel at the start. Mostly downhill to begin, then flat. Some of it seaside through wetlands. An island. Pass by chicken ranches, cow and sheep pastures. Lovely towns and many pleasant eateries along the way (it’s called “The Great Taste Trail”, and would take DAYS to do it completely).

Little did we know. The last half was into the wind…and we were NOT on ebikes.

By the time we reached the NW end of Rabbit island to catch the ferry across to our pickup point (about 5 hours after we started peddling), we were DONE. We were like those wobbly marathon runners barely making it across the finish line.

On the other hand…WE DID IT!

Bernie has this miracle ointment called “Deep Blue” that more or less saved our lives. We were actually able to walk the next day. It was easier than…ummm… sitting…

    1. A mild ride for the Viggo-nator, but a stern test for us! πŸš΄πŸ˜€πŸ˜΅πŸ€•

We were a lil happy with ourselves though. 😊

  2. Good job you two! Wow! Your lupper spot looks like a pretty great reward! Probably hard to get up (literally) and go home. πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸΈ

    1. Thanks Leslie! Luckily the tour company picked us up, but I still had to drive from their office to our hotel, so Dave-tinis were delayed! 😬

But in the end they were rather lovely…

  3. πŸ˜‚ I bet it was better to stand.

I’m wondering, with all of the activity if it’s helping you with your sleep schedule. I would think that you would fall into bed at the end of the day. I’m entering you into the senior Olympics!

    1. You would think that, right?! Lately we’ve been doing the goldilocks thing. One bed was too hard, the next bed was too soft but the bed we have for the next two nights is just right! πŸ˜‰
