Black Cockatoos, heaps of white stuff, and milking machines! 😳

Feb 24, 2023. The barrier island at Salamanca was huge…and empty.
Feb 25. Black Cockatoos joined us for morning coffee.
Taylor’s Beach, part of the Bay of Fires 35 minutes north of Salamanca. One of the most beautiful we have ever seen…and uninhabited!
The sand is like white sugar. Heaps of white stuff! Sorry Calgary…too soon??
The Garden, another part of the Bay of Fires, just north of Taylor’s Beach. One can easily see the basis for the name.
This family has a rather nice view!

On our way to Launceston, we stopped for lunch at Pyengana Dairy Company for lunch. We always wanted to see how a modern dairy operation works! Unfortunately we forgot to get photos of the farm, so these two are pulled from the web:

Lovely area in back of the restaurant to eat outside and enjoy the ‘fragrance’ of mother nature.
The heart of the dairy operation. This place does cow to multiple end products.
Biggest surprise? The cows LOVE this spinning wheel! They use it to massage/scratch themselves from nose to rear!

The farm runs itself! The cows milk themselves when they need to. Read on my friends, it is quite something…

Then it was off to Launceston. There were sections that reminded us of New Zealand!

      It’s starting to wind down quickly now. I hope spring has sprung by the time we get back to Calgary but I know better. 😉

    I want one of those scratching wheels!

    Amazing how the cows are milked by a robotic machine. How far dairy farming has come!

      I need to install one of those scratching wheels in our next home for Dave! There was a dairy farm in the north island of NZ that does tours where you learn all about dairy farms from A-Z. Unfortunately we missed out. Technology certainly makes everything easier. Who knew cows could look after themselves?!

    Yes we found some of Tassie and New Zealand very similar. Probably why we love both places so much!
