Hello from Perth, the second most isolated major city in the world (after Honolulu). When visiting this beautiful and bustling city (population 2.1 million) on the Swan River on the west coast of Australia, there are two “must do’s”. The first is a visit to “The King’s Park’”, a 1000 acre park smack in the middle of the city, overlooking the Swan River and the CBD. It is a wonderful mix of undisturbed nature and groomed gardens and open spaces.
Originally named “Perth Park” in 1895, it was renamed ‘The King’s Park” on 23 July 1901 to honour the accession of King Edward VII to the throne following Queen Victoria’s death.
It contains a wonderful botanical garden. Like we would miss that.
