Welcome to Vancouver, home of sod roofs, gorgeous trees and mountains, the Lions Gate Bridge…and crystal clear ice!

Zoom in on the above photo. That grassy area in the foreground is the roof of the Convention centre. I was disappointed at the lack of sheep and goats. Seriously, what the h*** Vancouver?? I thought you loved nature. If Marc Chagall can have a goat floating in a blue sky, surely you can use one to trim and fertilize the grass on your roof?!
Stanley Park is in the middle. A beautiful mix of natural forest with walking paths, a paved seawall path for walking and biking, and a few expensive restaurants (of course). It also has a lovely pitch & putt, that we will be playing tomorrow. Stay tuned.
The famous Lions Gate Bridge is there, just behind Stanley Park. Calgary has lions on the Centre Street Bridge. Why are lions associated with bridges?
In the background are the North Shore Mountains, standing vigil over the beautiful inlets and harbours that make Vancouver so distinctive.
The next strange (?) or perhaps distinctive thing we noticed was the ice cube in my Negroni. It was huge and absolutely clear.

We had to ask. Apparently if you boil the water before freezing it, this is what you get. Rest assured, we will be testing this out soon.
